Indonesian angklung musicians wow Bamboo Congress in Belgium

The performances of a group of Indonesian angklung musicians, i-kreasindo, during the 9th World Bamboo Congress in Antwerpen, Belgium, engaged hundreds of the congress’ participants.

The participants got all excited as the i-kreasindo, comprising Ika (conductor), Ade (bass),

Angga (traditional tambourine), Deki (melodic angklung) and Dwiyana (rhythm angklung), distributed hundreds of angklung and asked them all to play together following the instruction of the conductor.

Minister counselor at the Indonesian Embassy in Brussels, Palupi Mustajab, told Antara London Wednesday that the Angklung team also collaborated with the personnel of Take Dake, a Japanese group who plays bamboo-made percussion.

The performances of i-kreasindo at the congress were a result of cooperation between the embassy and the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry in a bid to promote Indonesian culture, particularly bamboo musical instruments, to European publics.

The angklung team also performed before dignitaries at a dinner hosted by the Indonesian Embassy.
